Goals and the GTD
I recently did a high level goal assessment, starting at the Life view, then to five years, three years, one year and finally six months. Here I will describe the technique I used to integrate this process into the GTD.
- Determine your overall life goals.
- Work backward from there and determine your five years, three years, one year and 6 months goals.
- At the six month level do a brainstorm for each goal to come with as many actions and projects as you can for each goal.
- Organize those actions into projects (if necessary) and then into next action contexts.
- Add an additional context called @@Goals for each item derived in step four.
- As you apply the technique described here, make sure that every day you have some @@Goals items in your @@today context.
- During your weekly review, measure your progress towards your goals and ramp up if necessary.
How do you handle goals in the context of the GTD?

A great, short and sweet method:
